The Work Here

This site and accompanying disc are a reference for work presented elsewhere. It is here for convenience and contains images in color, and, black and white, which are presented in a default mode as a series of slide diptychs. The images are also archived as single image slide presentations, each contain 7 or more images and play continuously at a duration of 2.5 seconds. You can move back and forth between the default auto play mode and the archive mode as you wish by simply clicking the button below.

The work is archived along the recent categories adapted by the Tate Modern which go back to the French Academy for painting. Works are shown under, Landscape, Body, History and Still Life. Still Life, for the most part, are images re-photographed, Landscape is architecture and the environment, History, things that deal with society and Body, portraits. The approach to the work is described in an essay "The Event of Imaging" under artist statement.

A Note on how the work is shown

Very little of this work has been printed and my thought is to present the work as projections or slide shows, as here the photographic image, though an instant in time, is not to persist as a permanent object or artifact. The images are shown at various durations and then go away, of course always to be retrieved again as one wishes. There are, as I said, few prints of this work, and presented or installed to be shown as projections or digital slides, in various configurations, that is multiple projectors displaying various sets of images as loops at different sizes and different time intervals.

Though the materials are organized on this disc in a certain order, the order, selection, duration and arrangement of the images are varied for each installation in physical space.
